I "helped" my father by updating the Intel driver from a PPA. How do I revert back to the old Intel driver?

In Dev. Manager, can you select "Roll Back Driver" under the entry for the device?

I hope you remember this is a Linux forum. Device Manager is Windows.

Is there a way that I can boot to Live CD/image and copy the driver files over to the installed Ubuntu?

Hello KlipschFan

Here is how you can purge everything done from a PPA
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/29584/sa ... in-ubuntu/

Here is the irony, in this tutorial you have to add a PPA for Ubuntu Tweak, via that tool you can undo the changes from a PPA and roll back the software/drivers

You might need to run "additional hardware" after you remove the PPA and after a reboot

Thanks for the info Door.

Question though, What if I have 10.10 installed?

What exactly is ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa? Daily build of 11.10?

Also now I will have to walk Dad through this process on the phone, or remote administer this process. Which would be your first choice? Note: Dad was an IBM mainframe operator in the service, but stuff that used to be up there in his head ain't there anymore.

Now that I think about it, I do resemble my father.

cpumelter you are right at home here.

Hey Door, I really freakin Love this program!

There is a section in there that lets you select from a list of known ppa's like Dropbox, Libreoffice, Handbrake, and Google Chrome Stable. There is what appears to be a iPhone tethering app called iPhone ethernet driver for USB.

Hello KlipschFan

Glad it worked good for you

To give your dad remote administration it is real hard to turn down Teamviewer, it works good on Linux, not perfect but it is the best solution I have found and oh so easy to setup

The only thing you might have to do is to walk your dad through disabling compiz, with 10.10 goto Main Menu, System, Preferences (or maybe Administration), then Appearance, the last tab on the right "Visual Settings" and change it to "None", it will take a few seconds

Some people have weird video things happen until they turn that setting off, but I would think a old mainframe guy wouldn't want all those desktop effects, maybe
