Got a Dell Inspiron here.
When I shut down the machine I can set the date and time to be correct. Leave it off for an hour. The time is still where I left it when I shut it down. Ie 1 hour behind.
Have changed the bios battery and reset bios to default as well?

Any ideas.

What operating system? And is it exactly 1 hr behind? What happens if you shut it down and turn it on 15 minutes later? Is it behind 1hr or 15 minutes only?

I was thinking maybe you just need to set the clock to automatically adjust for daylight savings time, that's if it's always 1hr behind no matter how long you leave it off for.

Had an HP doing that a few months ago. Turned out to be the cmos battery. Once I replaced that the problem went away.

Test the voltage of the new CMOS batt.? I can't think of anything else, other than a virus possibly that would be messing with the time/date settings.

Does the pc boot properly to the desktop with no errors or messages?

What you need to do is note the date and time when you turn the laptop off.
When you turn it back on again don't let it boot into windows and go into the BIOS and see what the date/time saids in there.

This should tell you if its something BIOS level or Windows levels causing the problem!
