I'm with rogerthehart, I'd reconsider the XP 64bit route. Unless the customer previously had it installed on a system, and used it with all his hardware and software. But chances are you will be having a lot more issues down the road. Very few drivers exist.

I've used it (tried) on physical and VM systems with issues. That OS was a bad idea and MS seems to have pushed it under the bench as if it never happened.

Thanks everyone for you posts. The SATA configuration is set to IDE, I checked that a long time ago...

I bought an external floppy drive this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000D ... 00_details I bought this floppy drive because this article said a Mitsumi drive would work. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916196

I loaded drivers on a floppy from the MSI website here: http://us.msi.com/product/mb/H61M-P21-- ... os=XP%2064. (Intel Rapid Storage Technology Floppy Driver (F6) )

My problem is it won't load the drivers when I press f6. I've tried like five times. So I'm wondering if the floppy drive I'm using isn't supported in the installation disk. I'm a week over due for the computer so If anyone has any advice I would really really appreciate it.

I'm about to tell him It can't be done and bump him to windows 7. I'm hesitant to tell him this only because he went with my computer so he could get his XP. What is the best way to make windows 7 look and feel like xp? That was one of his major concerns. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I had to deal with something like that a few days ago. This was not exactly the same thing but it could do the trick:
You need an Acronis TrueImage boot support (CD or USB), a second hdd or an external hdd and a "basic" pc that supports XP x64.
-Install XP on your dummy pc. Only Windows, nothing else, without activating it.
-Image the basic XP install to your external hdd using Acronis boot support.
-Restore the basic XP install to your customer's machine using the "Acronis universal restore". This may work, specially if IDE mode is activated on SATA ports.

This helped me when I switched my Win7 x64 from AHCI to Raid mode. The case is not the same but BSOD at boot time were just kicked out of my computer. All I had to do was to install usual drivers.

Hope this helps
