**** Cryptolocker

Cryptolocker displays a ransom notification to the user of the system that states that the ransom — usually between $100 and $300 — has to be paid to unlock the files again. If the demand is not met in 96 hours, the option to do so will expire and the files will be lost forever.

Malwarebytes and Symantec do detect it for example.

Hi Geeksters,

Thanks for the show. The support anecdotes are interesting, entertaining, and informative. I’m mostly a Linux user, but need tips for the other OSes for work. All much more interesting than a list of news stories.

On show 88 Martin spoke of imaging Win 7 machines and using DefProf to copy a default user profile. I just set up seven new machines at work and would have liked to use this workflow, but I didn’t know how to deal with the license keys for Windows and all the installed apps. Is there a way to make an image, copy that image to multiple machines, and change the license keys to the OEM license on the other machines? I would like to know if this is possible for at least the OS. I did some web searching, but didn’t find a satisfactory answer.

Also, I am a charter member of AOL. I also had a Compuserve and Prodigy account. AOL costs me nothing and after decades of having the same email address, I barely get any spam, most of it coming because somebody I don’t know accidentally input my very simple email address instead of their own on some site (perhaps reason to have a compex email address).

Thanks again,

Dr. Mark
