Thank you to all of you who submitted suggestions
for recovering data that has been overwritten.
I appreciate your effort.

Unfortunately, none of them worked

Dell PowerJack Fix on an Inspiron 5150
(yes, these are the ones I hate)
Too complex and delicate.
Overheat like crazy
Heat sinks get clogged up so much.

Very proud!
Soddering magic fixed that jack
Re-soddered all the leads to the mother board.
But would not boot up.
Tried other power adapters and the original.
No change.

It was simply overheating.

I grabbed my shop vac with a thin tip
and an unused big-fat paint brush to loosen the dust.
Using the shop vac I blew out the clumps stuck in
the fins of the fan & the clumps inbetween the fan blades
and blew and sucked the dust out.
Still all that .. had to replace the system board.

Dad replaced two sytem boards today.
One was the system with fans cranking away with no video.
The other system was completely dead
needed a system board and a power supply.

.. just to help me.
Seems she likes doing show notes!
