Finally came across the FBI Virus. Booted into safe mode found an odd looking startup item and disabled it then ran Malwarebytes and it did find it. Rebooted, no sign of the warnings. Proceeded with follow up scans.

My experience with with a small business with four computers, two routers, a hub, and a network printer. Don’t really want to spend like Matt says, so have to work with minimal setup

Internet connection problems were due to using wrong power adapter on on a Verizon modem. It was for an electric stapler.

Extremely slow laptop, Compaq CQ60. Tried changing RAM, CPU, and even tried another hard drive. Same result each time, even on a live CD.Motherboard was the culprit,

HP DV4 no power. Original power adapter wasn’t working, my universal adapter was not powering it. Brought a friend’s 120 watt adapter, it worked. He ordered a replacement but it was 65 watt

HP DV6000 – Replaced the motherboard due to no video problem. After the computer was running, I found Registry tools was disabled and EXE file association was broken. Chicken and egg situation. Ended up using a tool called “unhookexec” made by Symantec http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2004-050614-0532-99

HP laptop was very slow to boot and just in general, first I thought it might have a bad hard drive. Ran the usual diagnosis to check RAM and HD. I noticed the benchmark speed on HD Tune barely went over 1 MB/s. Had changed over to PIO mode instead of Ultra DMA.

Many bad hard drives including mine.

A Dell PP18L got wet, it continued working for a while but eventually would not “power” on. Worked fine with external monitor, but trackpad buttons not working. Tried replacing the inverter and lcd panel, same result. ended up being the motherboard.

Laptop from hell. Would not power up. Not even the power/charging light would come on. Tried the usual diagnostic steps. Replaced the motherboard twice. was working fine for days with me. An hour after the customer got it both times he called and said it died and would not come on again. ended up being a short when top made contact with MB.

Repairing phones and tablets. NOT ipod touch 4th gen
