Media Center HP with customer installed Vista Ultimate
hard drive crashed and we could not get the OS running.
We had to reinstall Vista but did not have the Product Key.
The Product Key on the computer was an XP Key
We used Magical Jellybean Keyfinder
to get the Product Key for Vista
via Ultimate Boot CD with Jellybean Key Finder on a flash drive.
Reinstalled Vista. Works great.
Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop came into remove viruses
customer wanted a clean sweep reinstall of Windows.
Half way through installation, it powers off.
Dead with both AC adapter and battery.
Died on my desk.
User never told us there were power problems.
Smells like a mother board issue
due to notorious over heating issues with these laptops.
Replaced two tips on power jacks
so the customers would not have to spend
$70-$80 on a new power adapter.
Dell B120 or B130 Inspiron
Battery in the computer would not start.
Battery out with AC adapter in, it would start.
Bad battery and bad AC adapter that did not charge battery.
I just remembered Jeff’s tip when this happens:
Unplug the AC adapter
Remove the battery
Plug in the AC adapter
Power on the computer
Shut down
Put the battery back in
and plug the AC adapter back in
.. and it will work as normal.
I will try that!
