Repairs:

  • Laptop with 4 rouge “anti-virus” popups
  • HP DV6000 laptop originally thought to be a DC jack problem, but had a motherboard board video problem, cured by heating solder joints with hair blower and replaced keyboard
  • Other symptoms with solder problems known on the DV6000 are wireless problems, memory problems,video problems
  • 2 HP DV7’s with broken screens, replaced both screens for $220 each
  • Acer aspire 300 laptop: Cursor from touchpad is jerky after warmup as well as the keyboard failing, turned out to be problem with southbridge chip being confused by heavy diagnostics traffic because of a bad battery
  • Current problem: Stinger POS (point of sale) device will not boot with peripherals connected
  • Has video of dv1000 on web site makes video of teardowns for reference for reassembly
