Mark: By Dec 31st 2019 it will be illegal to use gender based pronouns of any kind.

Door: Phones with 12 gigs of RAM and batteries will still suck, people will still be screaming about picture quality

Door: 5G Technology will be nowhere, yet people will still be scrambling to be on it just so that they can say they’re on it. The hardware will cost a lot more money.

Eric: Glass is going away as far as screens go, Big screen TV’s will be replaced by super-bright LED WiFi projectors that interface with your phone (chromecast) – you won’t have 70 inch piece of glass sitting in your living room.
(some doubt this would happen in one year)

Mark: Roku concept will take over the world, replace cable box, TiVo etc

Door: Humans as a species losing even more measures of privacy and private data to big tech.

Eric:: Exoskeletons! Exoskeletons for your knee instead of having a knee operation.

Door: We’re going to have a mild revolution of treatment of certain diseases, development of micro-virus treatments to cure certain things.

Mark: 2019 will be the year of the smartwatch, it won’t be called a smartwatch, it will be a FitBit or Garmin.

(Ivor’s Prediction from the chatroom): Microsoft gets back into the mobile phone business, Door adds it will be an android based phone and mentions the courier (folding PC).

Door: We are going to see the public display of Fuscia, it will not be a phone. It will probably replace the home hub.

Door: China vs. South Korea, we will see a continuation of the war of economies between China and South Korea, USA will reap the benefit of a cost reduction from competition.

Door: Android and Chrome OS further converging over time, even though we will probably suffer because of it. Chrome OS and Chrome Laptops will keep selling well, Chrome OS tablets will continue to unbelievably stumble and be unsuccessful.

Mark: Microsoft will release a phone, but it will be a chromium phone.

Door: Progressive web apps which will be the backbone to a system like that will be key. Mentions Appscope – web store for PWA’s. There will be an insane boost to the idea of PWA’s – will make substantial headway toward the end of 2020.

Eric wishes Google will get stock Android to work properly. Google Now lags, google keyboard is horrible, project fi support is crappy etc.

Door: Machine learning and AI will not progress 1% of anything,

Door: All of the bars on technology will continue to be lowered, coding barriers, application development, publishing, PWA’s etc which will allow everybody from any culture to produce applications like “be my eyes” which 1.84 million people volunteered to help on. Most people like doing good and helping each other. Barriers of entry will keep coming down allowing a bunch more people create. Particularly in small communities and groups.
